Jose Mourinho lifted his first La Liga crown as Real Madrid claimed its first Spanish title in four years.
Barcelona had won the last three league championships but Higuain, Ozil and Ronaldo scored the goals in a 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao to secure the title for ‘The Meringues’ with two games remaining.
Mourinho now have a record four titles in four countries and the latest jewel in his crown was sealed as Madrid gained an insurmountable lead of seven points at the top.
Jose Mourinho says leading Real Madrid to the Spanish championship has been harder than any of his previous league titles.
“Up until the final moment nobody gifted us anything. Bilbao put out their best team, the stadium was full and the team wanted to win and fight, which is the way it should be”.
“Barca won a lot of games and tried to push the league as far as possible. I think that they as champions and a club with a great tradition know that we deserve this league title.”
Prior to now, the ‘Special One” had lifted two titles with Chelsea, two Portuguese league crowns with Porto and also ruled Serie A for two seasons straight with Inter Milan.
